How It Works

R.W.P. – Rides With Purpose is a ride booking platform built to give both riders and drivers a better, more meaningful rideshare experience. Whether you’re booking a ride or driving to earn, here’s how it all works:

Download the R.W.P. – Rides With Purpose app, create your account, and enter your destination.

Choose Your Driver

You’ll be matched with one of our vetted, independent drivers.

Ride & Give Back

After your ride, you have the option to donate 1%, 2.5%, or 5% in addition to your fare to help combat veteran homelessness. 

What's the new-driver discount?

New drivers receive 50% off the first month’s membership fee. To offset the background-check cost, months 2–4 each include a $10 discount automatically. These apply once upon initial activation and renew monthly unless canceled under our Driver Terms of Service

About the Founder

J, a proud combat veteran of wars in Iraq & Afghanistan with 17 years of service in both the Navy and the Army, knows firsthand the challenges of transitioning to civilian life. Traveling the country with his wife, a dedicated travel nurse, he discovered flexibility in driving for ride-share companies. Yet, after years on the road, he recognized the need for something greater — a driver-owned platform built to empower veterans and give back to the causes that support them.

Meet Our National Ambassador

Lt. Col. Boyd "Rainmaker" Melson
U.S. Army Reserve.

  • Military Service
    Boyd Melson graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 2003, earning a Bachelor’s in Psychology with a minor in Nuclear Engineering. Commissioned as a lieutenant, he was promoted to captain within about three years and continues to serve in the U.S. Army Reserve—now at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel 
    He also graduated from the Army’s Command and General Staff Officer Course  and is an Iraq War veteran

  • Academic Career
    Beyond West Point, Boyd earned an MBA from Touro University International  He further pursued a Master’s in Psychology at Harvard University and obtained graduate certificates in “Topic In Human Behavior” and “Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging leadership. Currently, he’s a doctoral candidate at USC, studying Organizational Change & Leadership
